Content on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown: How to Create Emotional Content

Let's talk about a few things at once:

  • How to put emotion into content creation.
  • How to express your emotions.
  • How to evoke emotion.

I take information from my own experience, because I often find myself on the verge of a nervous breakdown when writing guide.

Why do we need emotion in content marketing

Emotional content helps the author to lighten the soul. Readers see that they're not the only ones experiencing similar emotions, so they become more loyal and engaged - more willing to comment and share.

The disadvantage is that not everyone can use emotional content with the same effectiveness. For example, if you've never expressed emotion before, starting to express it risks losing your reputation. Audiences perceive an abrupt change in style as insecurity on the part of the author. Change gradually.

How to put emotion into content

Putting emotion (or soul) into content is not the same as showing it. I write almost all articles under certain emotions. But if you don't give them an outlet, you'll either go crazy or be constantly distracted.

Right now I'm a little excited because I want the article to be good, a little annoyed because I'm not sure I can get something important to me right.

I write the article the way I feel. If I want to write something annoying, I do so. I say each phrase in my head with the intonation with which I want it to be read. At the same time, I try not to limit myself in any way and write everything that I think.

This is more about personal effectiveness, because this approach helps me to stay focused on one task. And the stronger my emotions, the better I am able to concentrate (especially when I am angry). Proponents of freelance writing and Hemingway have written about something similar before, when he advised me to write drunk and edit sober. That's exactly what I'll do-edit the article when my emotions have subsided.

How to Express Your Emotions

Some people advise using foul language because it adds spice to the text. This is a good option if you use mate in your life, but it should not be abused.

So expressing emotion makes sense when you feel it. If you try to show that something bothers you or angers you, but you yourself are indifferent to it - falsity will be noticed. Write about what's bothering you.

Another way to express emotion is to choose the most accurate phrases. Many people think a writer's strength is to talk floridly and with the greatest pathos, but people actually like precise words. Thankfully, the Russian language has enough of them to describe anything. And if you don't have the right word, you can always make one up.

Words with expressive coloring

You can say "businessman", or you can say "businessman" or even "tycoon". You can say "hello", or "hello". These words have the same meaning, but different connotations.

We say "hello" to people we respect or to strangers, and "hello" to friends and acquaintances. Which way we say one or the other depends on our social status or the framework of propriety accepted in society. But never does "hello" imply more respect than "hello.

How do we evoke emotion?

Let's get to the hard part. As Robert McKee said, "If I had the opportunity to send a telegram to filmmakers around the world, I would write three words: 'Emotion evokes meaning.'"

We can take the crusts with precision, smear them with cream and metaphors, and put a maternity cherry on top of that luscious treat - there's no effect if you don't put meaning in. The only feeling the reader will get is "what did I just read?"

In order for your emotion to evoke emotion in someone else, you need to understand why you feel that way. You must also understand that if you are angry about the hole in your parking space, that's no reason to get emotional in a text about how to promote your Twitter account. But in the text about asphalting it will be helpful.

So the algorithm for action is this:

  • You do something until you hate something that your colleagues or someone else is doing.
  • Write about it when your emotions are at their peak.

Write everything in the way that you yourself think about the topic of the article. Even if you have in your thoughts through a word appears mat - so write it. Then you can cut out unnecessary things, leaving only a few witty phrases that best describe your opinion.

And, of course, you can't edit right away - do it when you're no longer emotional. That way you don't risk leaving or deleting too much. Let the thoughts languish in your head for a while, and then you can supplement the article with what you missed.
